The Cashew Export Promotion Council of India(CEPC) was established by the Government of India in the year 1955, with the active cooperation of the cashew industry with the object of promoting exports of cashew kernels and cashewnut shell liquid from India. By its very set up, the Council provides the necessary institutional frame-work for performing the different functions that serve to intensify and promote exports of cashew kernels and cashewnut shell liquid.
The Council provides the necessary liaison for bringing together foreign importers with member exporters of cashew kernels. The enquiries received from the foreign importers are circulated amongst Council members.
The Council also extends its good offices in settling complaints amicably in the matter of exports/imports either on account of quality and /or variation in fulfillment of contractual obligations.

CASHEW KERNEL
Cashew kernels are obtained through processing (roasting / steaming, shelling and peeling) of raw cashewnuts.
Cashew Kernels, for commercial purposes, are graded based on their colour, shape and size. The grade details are given under the heading – Commercial Information.
Cashew kernels are also available as roasted, salted, flavoured and coated with spices, honey, etc. Value added products like cashew powder, cashew butter, cashew drink, etc. are also available in the market.
CASHEWNUT SHELL LIQUID ( CNSL)
The Cashewnut Shell Liquid (CNSL) is a by-product obtained while processing raw cashewnuts to produce cashew kernels. It is the oil obtained by crushing the cashew shell.
CNSL is a versatile industrial oil with its applications in the manufacture of brake linings, friction dust,resins, paint and laquer, etc.
Purified and distilled CNSL is called Cardanol.
Membership/Registration Process
To become a member of the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India, an individual needs to follow the steps given below:
- Visit the official website of CEPCI and click on the ‘Membership’ tab on the Menu bar.
- Click on ‘Register New’ under drop down bar of Membership tab.
- New page will open, either provide the email address to get an OTP to proceed with registration process or click on the desired membership tab on left side of the page.
- By clicking on desired membership a new page will open to provide all the information about the membership.
- At bottom of the page a button will display ‘Apply Online Now’ – By clicking on the button, application form will get downloaded.
- Fill in the complete application form and attach all the scanned documents.
- Refer to the tab ‘Checklist for filling’ to get information of required documents to be submitted.
- Pay the membership fees according to the description given on the official website.
- Submit the application form along with the supporting documents and the payment receipt.
- Council will update on the registration once documents are verified and approved.
CEPCI allows to apply for the membership online through their website as well. Individual can visit the official website and fill out the form on the same to renew registration, as well. Visitor can also register his/her business as a new member on the site itself.
